The Vision
In the wake of Hurricane Ian, the residents of North Captiva Island faced numerous challenges, especially in terms of transportation and logistics. Anne-Caroline Taylor, a committed homeowner on the island, recognized a gap in services that needed urgent attention. Many island businesses and homeowners found it difficult to access reliable and affordable barge services, which are crucial for transporting goods and materials to and from the island.
Anne-Caroline envisioned a solution that would cater not only to the needs of local businesses but also provide homeowners with a dependable and cost-effective alternative. Her goal was to foster a sense of community and support the rebuilding efforts post-hurricane by ensuring that resources and services were accessible to all.
Collaboration with Duncan Rosen
To bring this vision to life, Anne-Caroline partnered with Duncan Rosen, a fellow North Captiva homeowner and an island business owner. Duncan shared her commitment to improving island life and had a deep understanding of the logistical challenges faced by the community. Together, they combined their resources, expertise, and passion to establish the North Captiva Barge Company.
